Sophisticated, contemporary, sexy, flirty and fabulously fun are all words that have been used to describe Lolita and her designs.
It was while drinking Martinis at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis on a girls night out that the idea to hand paint glassware first came to Lolita.
As an ex-DKNY designer, she started out hand painting each of the designs herself in the basement studio of her home, and in 2000 the “love my martini” collection – a set of unique glasses, each inspired by a different cocktail recipe – was introduced. In 2004, Lolita signed her first licensing contract – and the rest, they say, is history.
The original Lolita designs are now reproduced by hand using food-grade non-toxic paint (requiring hand washing) and come distinctively packaged in beautiful gift boxes.
The collection has become a huge hit in the US with over 2 million glasses sold each year, and ever-growing pool of consumers, and many of the early designs having become collectables.
Since introduction in the UK and Europe in 2007, the expanding Lolita range is enjoying a similar success with enthusiastic customers.
